Specialist Technician – ICT Support for Schools (Victoria)

About the role

Bytewize is seeking experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Department of Education’s Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role can be contracted, casual or permanent and offers a salary of $90,000‑$110,000 pro‑rata.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and server environments (Windows, Linux, Hyper‑V).
• Provide ICT support in large, technology‑driven learning environments and assist staff and students.
• Deliver ICT professional development and training to school leadership teams when required.
• Deploy and manage cloud services (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365) and Mobile Device Management solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience, preferably within the TSSP, education sector or comparable corporate environments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa), a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.
