Software Engineering Manager

About the role

Anduril’s Maritime Division is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering autonomous maritime systems. You will own end‑to‑end software solutions, from design through sustainment, and ensure they meet customer needs and strategic defence priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Empathize with end‑users and drive solutions balancing needs with constraints in a multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Architect scalable software, manage roadmaps (6‑18 months), budgets and programmatic risk, and coordinate reusable components across product lines.
• Lead a team of 4‑10 engineers, mentor, manage career development, and communicate vision and strategy.
• Travel up to 20% to co‑locate with end‑users or other teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven management experience in a high‑performing technology organization.
• Extensive software engineering background across the stack and lifecycle.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.

Required skills

• Backend or embedded development in C, C++, Rust, Go.
• Frontend development with TypeScript and React.
• Experience with RTOS, horizontally scaled cloud technologies, and embedded robotics software.
• Familiarity with communication buses and protocols (CAN, CANFD, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC, MIL‑STD‑1553, etc.).
• Knowledge of safety‑critical standards such as DO‑178, IEC 61508.
• Modeling, simulation, sensor and actuator interface development.
