Software Engineer – Spend Management

About the role

Airwallex is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Spend Management team. You will design and build backend services that power global spend tracking, reconciliation and accounting for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure backend services for the Cards product and Spend platform.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of new features, from technical design through production operation.
• Contribute to the long‑term architecture and technical vision of backend systems in the Spend and Accounting domains.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, design and other engineering teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend systems and APIs in production.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures and distributed systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Kotlin, Go or Python.
• Experience with REST API design and frameworks like Spring Boot.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or Splunk.
