Software Engineer – Software Solutions Engineer

About the role

Thales is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, test and integrate software solutions that support critical systems across various industries. The role involves creating portable, reusable code and ensuring successful deployment on operational platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, test, integrate and document assigned software tasks.
• Debug existing code and implement improved solutions.
• Target design and documentation for portability and reusability.
• Support software deployment on operational platforms.
• Liaise with colleagues to implement technical designs and meet customer requirements.
• Specify, design, code and unit‑test software components according to functional requirements.
• Assemble components to evaluate design, behavior, interactions and performance.
• Participate in specifications, technical reviews, workshops and project reviews.
• Ensure timely delivery of software releases for integration and test programs.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience developing software in a commercial environment, preferably across multiple components or teams.
• Understanding of the full software development life‑cycle and associated processes.
• Knowledge of software estimation, design, development and unit testing.
• Familiarity with configuration‑management tools and continuous‑build environments.
• Exposure to large‑scale or distributed systems is beneficial.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
