Software Engineer - Mobile

About the role

Join the Flatmates.com.au squad within REA Group to design, build and maintain Android features in Kotlin. You will work end‑to‑end on functionality, performance, accessibility and release readiness while collaborating with product, design and subject‑matter experts.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Android features in Kotlin from discovery through release.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and SMEs to shape scope, trade‑offs and incremental delivery.
• Write high‑quality, testable code and participate in code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing.
• Own feature performance, accessibility, analytics, experimentation and release readiness.
• Contribute to shared mobile platform components and standards across REA.
• Participate in release cadence, triage, production support and improve observability.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of solid Android experience with Kotlin as the primary language.
• Strong UI engineering skills, including motion/animation, accessibility and performance awareness.
• Product‑engineering mindset: prioritise user value, own outcomes and ship iteratively.
• Collaborative, low‑ego communication style; comfortable with pairing and feedback.
• Willingness to learn beyond Android (basic backend/web/iOS) when needed.
• Curiosity and practice in AI‑augmented engineering to improve efficiency.
