Software Engineer – Level 2 (Engineering Support)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer (Level 2) to provide engineering support within its global defence and technology projects. Reporting to the Project Engineer Manager, you will work in a collaborative, multi‑national environment to ensure system‑level artefacts meet rigorous standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assure system planning, integration, design, development and test & evaluation artefacts.
• Support execution of system reviews across Mission and Support Systems.
• Maintain documentation repositories in line with Defence policy and regulatory requirements.
• Apply established engineering standards, tools and processes to deliver high‑quality software solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (Australian institution or equivalent recognised under the Washington Accord).
• Eligibility to access ITAR‑controlled information.
• 2‑5 years of experience in a software engineering or related engineering role.
• Understanding of software engineering methods, design and development processes.
• Experience supporting software activities for major capital acquisition projects.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
