Software Engineer

About the role

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a proactive Software Engineer to join the Joint Systems Capability team in Brisbane. You will contribute to the enhancement and sustainment of the Wakulda Air Battle Management System, working in a high‑performing engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and industry standards.
• Collaborate with the project team to identify, mitigate, and manage technical risks.
• Resolve moderately complex issues related to product integration and production anomalies.
• Ensure a clear understanding of engineering and technical requirements and verification processes.
• Communicate the status of engineering deliverables.
• Develop and document solutions through drawings, data sets, reports, specifications and supporting data.
• Develop and update engineering change‑management artifacts, including test procedures, deviations and test reports.
• Develop, integrate, test and validate software solutions to meet operational and functional requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in complex technical development and integration projects.
• Minimum 2 years professional experience in software development.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Bitbucket, Jenkins).
• Strong attention to detail when following and creating documentation and code.
• Ability to follow an engineering lifecycle.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Australian citizenship; existing NV1 or Baseline clearance advantageous.
