About the role

Kraken is building the operating system for the future energy grid. The Client Engineering team delivers high‑quality software solutions to our utility customers. We are hiring Software Engineer I (1‑3 years experience) and Engineer II (4‑8 years experience) to work on backend services.

Key responsibilities

Design and implement robust, fault‑tolerant backend services using Python, Django, GraphQL and Celery.
Write unit, integration and functional tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
Debug production issues, document solutions and improve system observability.
Collaborate with cross‑domain teams, mentor junior engineers and contribute to hiring discussions (Engineer II).

Required profile

Strong programming skills in Python and experience with Django or a comparable web framework.
Ability to model complex domain problems in the energy sector and write clean, maintainable code.
Experience with testing, debugging and documenting software for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
