Software Engineer – Backend (TypeScript/Node.js)

About the role

We are a fast‑growing AI‑focused lending technology company in Sydney looking for a Backend Software Engineer. You will join a small, high‑ownership team building core platform services that power real‑world financial products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Write and optimise raw SQL queries on PostgreSQL, handling joins, aggregations and performance tuning.
• Deploy and operate services within AWS environments (Lambda, ECS, etc.).
• Deliver features end‑to‑end, from concept through production release.
• Collaborate closely with senior and lead engineers to ensure high‑quality solutions.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of genuine backend engineering experience.
• Strong production‑level expertise in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Solid hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL and raw SQL.
• Comfortable navigating AWS services; you don’t need to own the infrastructure but must know how to work within it.
• Passion for solving complex backend problems rather than front‑end or full‑stack titles.
