Software Development Engineer

About the role

As a Software Development Engineer you will design, build, and operate software that runs at AWS network scale. You will work with a diverse group of engineers, supply‑chain specialists and security experts to ensure safe, reliable configuration changes across Amazon’s global network.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain distributed services that emulate, deploy, and validate network device changes.
• Champion software‑engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source‑control, build pipelines, testing and operations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and senior management to gather requirements and translate them into robust software solutions.
• Ensure safety and security of network configuration changes at Amazon scale.

Required profile

• Passion for solving complex technical challenges in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, global team.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with users, technical teams and leadership.

Required skills

• Software development for large‑scale distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS infrastructure services.
• Knowledge of network configuration and management concepts.
• Proficiency with version‑control systems (e.g., Git) and automated testing frameworks.
