Software Developer / Engineer

About the role

Raytheon Australia is seeking a motivated Software Developer/Engineer to join the Maritime Electronic Warfare (EW) Mission System team. You will work within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment, applying modern development practices to deliver high‑impact defence solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse, design and develop microservices‑based, containerised applications using an automated CI/CD pipeline.
• Collaborate with Scrum Master and Product Owner to deliver features that meet the definition of done.
• Participate in sprint and program increment planning, continuously improving value flow.
• Implement Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks to ensure quality.
• Provide requirements, design, verification and validation support for assigned projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software design, development and testing.
• Hands‑on experience working in Scrum teams; SAFe experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Linux platforms and UML modelling.

Required skills

• Object‑oriented programming (C++, C#, Objective‑C or similar).
• Python scripting and Ansible automation.
• Container technologies and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Microservices or event‑driven architecture.
• CI/CD pipelines, GitLab CI/CD (YAML configuration), version control and automated test tools.
• DevSecOps principles and Test‑Driven Development.
