SOC Analyst – Cyber Security Operations

About the role

Join a high‑performing Security Operations team supporting mission‑critical defence and intelligence networks in Canberra. You will monitor, detect, investigate and respond to cyber threats while helping mature the organisation’s security operations capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor security events and respond to cyber incidents.
• Conduct threat detection, analysis, triage and investigation.
• Support vulnerability management processes and remediation.
• Assist with SIEM, endpoint, network and detection engineering initiatives.
• Provide cyber security advice to stakeholders and contribute to security requirements.

Required profile

• 2+ years in cyber security operations (junior) or 5‑10+ years across security functions (senior).
• Experience with incident response, detection engineering, vulnerability management and threat intelligence.
• Ability to work with engineers, threat intel specialists and security authorities.
• Prior experience supporting Defence, Intelligence or Federal Government environments is desirable.

Required skills

• Familiarity with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk).
• Knowledge of endpoint and network security tooling.
• Scripting or coding experience.
• Understanding of cyber security fundamentals and threat intelligence.
• Relevant certifications such as Security+, GSEC, GCIAGCIH, CISSP, CISM, CCNA, Microsoft Security or Splunk certifications.
