Service Support Technician

About the role

The Service Support Technician ensures that all service and installation tasks for Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems are completed efficiently and on schedule. You will install, commission, and maintain RF‑based shrink‑management solutions for retail environments.

Key responsibilities

• Install cabling, floor cuts, conduit, carpet strip and wire mould.
• Fit off and terminate power, synchronization and network cabling.
• Locate and mount RF antennas, power supplies, de‑activation loops and electronic chassis.
• Mount RF tag detaching devices and repair floor cuts, re‑grout tiles or re‑glue carpet.
• Interpret technical drawings, floor plans and site surveys.
• Install, tune and commission RF systems, including point‑of‑sale de‑activation.
• Use electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters and PDAs to diagnose and rectify system‑level faults.
• Write detailed technical reports, work method statements and job safety analyses.
• Maintain field service asset register, inventory reconciliation and OH&S compliance.
• Process administration and reporting in line with the Sarbanes‑Oxley Act.

Required profile

• Working knowledge of quality, environmental and OH&S principles.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Capacity to plan and execute projects with limited direction.
• Minimum HSC/VCE or equivalent.
• At least 5 years experience in electronic security systems installation and maintenance.
• Proven post‑trade qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Current driver’s licence.

• Cabling and conduit work (floor cuts, carpet strip, wire mould).
• Interpretation of technical drawings and floor plans.
• Use of common PC and software applications for reporting and inventory.
