Server Engineer

About the role

St John WA, a not-for-profit healthcare organisation serving Western Australia since 1922, is looking for Server Engineers to join its Digital Services team. The role is full-time, on a permanent or fixed-term basis, and involves bringing strong technical skills and a hands-on approach to deliver complex systems that support the organisation's functional outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver expert technical support across diverse server and infrastructure environments, resolving issues promptly
• Administer and maintain Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows Server and associated platforms
• Troubleshoot and resolve server-related incidents, escalating where appropriate
• Support IT project delivery and work with senior engineers on implementation
• Handle patching, vulnerability remediation and system hardening across operating systems, firmware and hypervisors within change-control processes
• Manage backup and recovery operations
• Take part in an after-hours on-call roster

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related major, or Microsoft certifications and other relevant industry certifications
• Proven experience with VMware, cloud technologies and private cloud computing
• Strong background in developing and implementing automation
• Good problem-solving and organisational skills
