Senior Systems Engineer – Managed Services

About the role

Itron is seeking a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join its Managed Services team in Australia. The role focuses on application support, incident management, and maintaining customer‑facing production environments across Windows and Linux platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide application management, administration, and operational support for production environments.
• Investigate and resolve customer‑reported incidents and service requests, performing root‑cause analysis.
• Monitor system health, performance, and service availability, and troubleshoot OS, networking, database, and application issues.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, document findings, and participate in scheduled weekend on‑call rotations.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience supporting enterprise applications or IT systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer‑focused mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced support environment.

Required skills

• Windows and Linux operating systems.
• SQL querying and data analysis.
• TCP/IP networking, DNS, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Operating‑system concepts and system services.
• Scripting with PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Kubernetes administration or troubleshooting (preferred).
• OpenTelemetry and observability concepts (preferred).
• Experience with SaaS or cloud‑hosted applications and monitoring/logging platforms (preferred).
