Senior Systems Engineer – Level 4 (Microsoft Cloud & Security)

About the role

We are looking for a Level 4 Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership, advanced escalation support, solution architecture and complex project delivery across Microsoft, cloud, networking and security environments. The role suits a commercially‑minded senior engineer who can solve challenging technical problems, mentor teams and build trusted client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the highest level of technical escalation for Level 1‑3 engineers and lead root‑cause analysis for complex infrastructure and cloud issues.
• Design, implement and optimise Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Azure and Teams Phone solutions, including Zero‑Trust security frameworks.
• Architect, configure and troubleshoot enterprise‑grade networking, firewalls, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs and WAN connectivity.
• Conduct security reviews, vulnerability assessments and implement controls aligned with Essential Eight, CIS, NIST and cyber‑insurance requirements.
• Lead delivery of large‑scale infrastructure and cloud projects, participate in pre‑sales scoping and ensure projects meet scope and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, SOPs and drive continual service improvement.

Required profile

• 10+ years IT experience, including 5+ years in an MSP environment supporting multiple customers.
• Advanced Microsoft 365 administration, Azure architecture and strong hands‑on expertise with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune and Windows operating systems.
• Extensive networking knowledge – firewalls, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, WAN and enterprise Wi‑Fi.
• Solid understanding of endpoint security, backup, disaster recovery and security frameworks.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers, communicate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders and drive continuous learning.
