Senior Systems Engineer

About the role

Itron is seeking a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join its Managed Services team in Australia. The role focuses on application support, incident management, and maintaining customer‑facing production environments across Windows and Linux platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide application management, administration, and operational support for production environments.
• Investigate and resolve customer‑reported incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and manage support cases through their full lifecycle.
• Monitor system health, performance, and service availability, and troubleshoot issues involving operating systems, networking, databases, and application components.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive issue resolution and service improvements, and document troubleshooting findings and best practices.
• Participate in scheduled weekend on‑call rotations and early‑morning or late‑evening shift coverage during onboarding.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience supporting enterprise applications or IT systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer‑focused mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced support environment.
• Experience with case management or ticketing systems.

Required skills

• Windows and Linux operating systems.
• SQL querying and data analysis.
• TCP/IP networking, DNS, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Meter Data Management (MDM) systems, OpenTelemetry, SaaS/cloud‑hosted applications, and monitoring/logging platforms.
