Senior System Analyst (Government Agency)

About the role

Profectus is looking for an experienced Senior System Analyst to support the delivery and sustainment of business and technology systems for a large Australian Government agency. The role involves translating business needs into clear system requirements, analysing existing capabilities and shaping secure, fit‑for‑purpose solutions within a highly governed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with business and technical stakeholders to elicit, analyse and document system and business requirements.
• Translate complex business needs into functional and non‑functional specifications, user stories, use cases and process models.
• Analyse current systems, processes and data to identify gaps, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Support solution design, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and agency standards.
• Work closely with development and testing teams to ensure requirements are understood, delivered and validated.
• Contribute to test planning, validation, acceptance and change, release and configuration management processes.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, design and delivered capability.
• Collaborate with project, security and delivery teams to achieve compliant and resilient outcomes.

Required profile

• Strong experience as a Systems Analyst or Business Analyst in large, complex, highly governed environments.
• Proven ability to elicit, analyse and document business and system requirements.
• Experience mapping business processes and modelling systems, data and workflows.
• Solid understanding of software delivery lifecycles (waterfall and agile).
• Ability to work independently and as part of integrated teams.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain an NV1 security clearance.
