Senior Speech Pathologist (HP4) - Regional QLD

About the role

An experienced Senior Speech Pathologist (HP4) is sought for a locum contract at a regional hospital in Far North Queensland, running through to Christmas 2026. The position is predominantly paediatric outpatient work, so strong paediatric experience is essential. The role sits within an established Speech Pathology service, alongside an HP3 Speech Pathologist who manages most of the adult inpatient caseload.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a predominantly paediatric outpatient caseload, assessing, diagnosing and treating children with speech, language and communication difficulties
• Provide occasional support with adult general Speech Pathology caseloads as required
• Work with the on-site HP3 Speech Pathologist and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Deliver evidence-based assessment, treatment and ongoing care

Required profile

• Relevant Speech Pathology qualification
• Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
• Strong paediatric clinical experience (essential)
• General adult Speech Pathology experience (advantageous)
• Ability to manage a caseload independently in a regional setting
• Australian working rights
• Experience at a senior level, ideally in a hospital or public health setting
