Senior Software Engineer – Mobile Back‑End

About the role

Qantas is looking for a Senior Mobile Back‑End Developer to join its new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. You will lead the architecture, delivery and development of robust, scalable systems that power seamless digital experiences for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend APIs using Kotlin/Java and Spring Boot.
• Ensure high‑quality, secure, and performant services on AWS with CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with technical and non‑technical partners to meet business outcomes.

Required profile

• 6+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to mentor junior developers.
• Passion for clean code, continuous improvement and test‑and‑learn culture.

Required skills

• Kotlin (or Java)
• Spring Boot
• AWS
• Git and CI/CD (preferably GitHub Actions)
• Observability tools such as Datadog and Splunk
• Multi‑threaded, asynchronous programming
