Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Codehaus is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Adelaide team on a long‑term contract. The role involves building and maintaining complex, cloud‑native and mission‑critical systems for defence and government clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain high‑quality software solutions.
• Collaborate with architects, subject‑matter experts and customers to define system requirements.
• Develop and integrate APIs, services and data pipelines.
• Build, deploy and support containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Participate in code reviews, produce technical documentation and support integration and testing activities.
• Investigate emerging technologies and contribute to engineering best practices.

Required profile

• Strong engineering mindset with curiosity and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Background in software, platform, DevOps, AI, simulation, defence, embedded or cloud engineering.
• Experience working on diverse domains such as autonomous systems, AI agents, or secure enterprise platforms.

Required skills

• Professional experience in software engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Proficiency in one or more languages: Python, TypeScript, Java, C++, Go or C#.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux environments.
• Knowledge of containerisation technologies, especially Docker and Kubernetes.
