Senior Software Developer

About the role

Shockbyte is looking for a Senior Software Developer to become the technical anchor of its Melbourne office. You will work on the core platform that lets customers spin up, run, and manage game servers for more than 60 titles.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship end‑to‑end features for the game‑hosting product.
• Participate in architecture decisions, code reviews, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with a distributed engineering team across Europe, attending sync meetings outside Australian business hours.
• Experiment with AI tools such as Claude Code, evaluate their impact, and share findings with the team.
• Provide on‑site technical support for the Melbourne office, unblock teammates, and improve local workflows.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Strong product mindset – able to identify problems, engage stakeholders, and build the right solutions.
• Self‑managed and able to prioritize work independently.
• Flexible schedule to join European meetings when needed.
