Senior Scientist - Contaminated Land

About the role

SMEC’s Environment Team is expanding and seeks a Senior Scientist to lead contaminated land assessments in Melbourne. You will work on multidisciplinary projects across renewables, water, and infrastructure, delivering high‑quality technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage contaminated land assessments, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Provide technical reviews and guidance to junior team members.
• Oversee project management activities for large, multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in environmental science, geology, engineering or related field.
• Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering or similar.
• Preferred CEnVP (general/contam) certification.
• Proven project and time‑management abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills for client and stakeholder engagement.
