Senior Sales Engineering Manager

About the role

Checkout.com is seeking a senior‑level Sales Engineering Manager to lead technical pre‑sales activities for its fast‑growing payments platform in Australia. You will act as the bridge between the commercial team and merchants, translating business needs into technical solutions and driving deals to closure.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Commercial team to position Checkout.com products and help win deals.
• Understand merchant requirements, map them to APIs, and create solution designs and documentation.
• Run demos, build payment flows, create POCs and customise presentations for prospects.
• Lead all technical interactions with merchants—from chats and calls to workshops—until the deal is won.
• Provide thought leadership on payment performance, fraud prevention, tokenisation and payment‑method optimisation.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre‑Sales Consultant or similar role.
• Proven ability to communicate with both technical (developers, product) and business (finance, C‑level) stakeholders.
• Strong commercial focus, proactive attitude and results‑driven mindset.
• Comfortable thriving in a fast‑paced environment and handling shifting priorities.

Required skills

• REST/JSON API integration, Postman.
• Front‑end development: JavaScript, React, Angular.
• Back‑end development: Java.NET, Python, Node.
• Payments knowledge: 3DS, Network Tokenisation, Apple/Google Pay, Open Banking, fraud‑risk engines.
• Regulatory familiarity: PSD2, PSD3, PSR, FCA, ISO‑8583.
