Senior Reliability Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Reliability Engineer to join our Asset Management Team at Nyrstar Hobart Smelter. Reporting to the Reliability and Planning Superintendent, you will lead capital projects and deliver engineering solutions that enhance safety, reliability and productivity in a complex industrial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise plant asset condition plans and equipment maintenance strategies.
• Implement asset‑management KPIs and drive continuous performance improvement.
• Facilitate critical equipment reviews, perform failure‑mode analysis and identify safety‑focused projects.
• Monitor performance metrics, provide technical support to maintenance and operations, and conduct condition assessments.
• Identify and eliminate non‑value‑adding processes, propose cost‑saving initiatives and create value‑driven maintenance strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Training and experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Proven experience in both project and maintenance engineering.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Resilience and ability to perform under pressure in a demanding environment.
• Proactive mindset with a drive for change implementation.
• Experience analysing equipment data and identifying performance trends.
• Prior experience in heavy industry; supervisory experience and facilitating RCA activities are desired.
