Senior Property Accountant

About the role

A well-established property investment and funds management business is looking for an experienced Senior Property Accountant in Brisbane to oversee property-level accounting, financial reporting and controls across a growing portfolio of managed funds and assets. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role works closely with senior finance, property, asset and fund management stakeholders to maintain the integrity of financial information, improve processes and support strategic portfolio decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes across multiple property entities
• Oversee property-level accounting, including rent-up, recoveries, accruals, prepayments, percentage rent and ad hoc charges
• Prepare and review income and expenditure statements, cash flow reporting and variance analysis
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual property financial reporting
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting across the portfolio
• Prepare arrears reporting with commentary for internal stakeholders
• Work with external property managers to ensure accurate and timely financial information, and guide and support them across multiple funds and assets

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of property-level financial reporting, budgeting and reconciliations
• Experience across a multi-asset property portfolio or managed fund environment
• Confidence managing deadlines across month-end, year-end and statutory reporting cycles
• Attention to detail, organisation and stakeholder communication skills
• Proactive approach to process improvement and financial controls
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across finance and property teams

Required skills

• Strong Excel skills
• Experience using property or lease administration systems
• Exposure to MRI or Yardi is highly regarded
