Senior Project Officer - Flexible

About the role

The Senior Project Officer will lead and support projects within the Ecotourism team, contributing to sustainable use of Queensland’s protected estate. Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you will help shape strategies, policies and procedures for ecotourism facility development across Queensland’s national parks.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and participate in ecotourism‑related projects and project teams.
• Develop, advise on and continuously improve strategies, systems, policies and procedures for ecotourism facility development.
• Assist in preparing ecotourism facility proposals, including assessment and engagement with proponents, Traditional Owners and other government departments.
• Ensure proposals align with relevant legislation, policies and frameworks.

Required profile

• Role‑model individual contributor leadership behaviours as defined by Queensland leadership competencies.
• Demonstrated project management experience and understanding of assessment methodologies for ecotourism facility proposals.
• Applied knowledge of ecotourism in national parks and ability to quickly interpret relevant legislation and policies.
• Strong interpersonal, problem‑solving and negotiation skills with a track record of driving change and continuous improvement.
• Ambition to achieve departmental objectives and deliver results.
• High‑level written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder liaison and preparation of reports, leases and ministerial correspondence.
• Desirable knowledge of contract management principles.
