Senior Project Lead – Operational Risk (Line 1B)

About the role

The Senior Project Lead, Operational Risk (Line 1B) will join the Business & Private Bank Operational Risk & Resilience Centre of Excellence. You will act as an embedded risk assurance partner on strategic initiatives, providing independent review, challenge and advisory to ensure operational risk and resilience are embedded throughout the change lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Translate risk policies and regulatory obligations into clear guidance for strategic projects such as Single Customer Front End (SCFE).
• Review and challenge business requirements and solution designs to identify operational risk impacts early.
• Provide governance, control design and risk‑treatment advice for risk‑in‑change approaches.
• Conduct independent reviews of risk management practices, control effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
• Identify, challenge and escalate gaps in risk frameworks, assessments (e.g., NFRAs) and processes.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to uplift risk capability and ensure consistent application of risk frameworks.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in operational risk, risk assurance or related risk‑focused project roles within a banking or financial services environment.
• Proven ability to work independently, challenge assumptions and influence stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of risk policies, regulatory obligations and risk‑assessment methodologies.
