Senior Project Engineer/Manager - Airport Engineering

About the role

BNP Associates, Inc., a global air transportation consulting and engineering firm founded in 1971, is looking for a Senior Project Engineer/Manager in Brisbane, Australia. The role acts as the main liaison between project stakeholders, contractors and BNP, serving as a subject matter expert across the full project lifecycle, under the guidance of the Regional Director and in coordination with global engineering teams. It also involves supporting business development in Oceania and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out site inspections, field surveys, equipment tests and construction management tasks
• Assess project sites for feasibility and operational requirements
• Develop and review CAD drawings, engineering designs, specifications and technical reports
• Manage project budgets, programmes and logistics, including RFI responses and punch list resolution
• Prepare project status reports, cost estimates and technical studies
• Run and review system simulations and verify compliance with project requirements
• Support colleagues in other offices on topics such as baggage handling system controls, electrical systems design and airport ground handling trends
• Mentor new and junior staff

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering, aviation management, airport planning or a related field
• 2+ years of relevant experience as a Senior Project Engineer/Manager or in a related technical field
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects from start to delivery
• Strong stakeholder-facing and communication skills, including writing technical reports
• Flexibility to travel regularly within Australia; unrestricted right to work in Australia (no visa sponsorship offered)

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
• Advantageous: Revit or AutoCAD, baggage handling systems, ground handling or logistics background, existing networks in the aviation or airport industry in Oceania

The role is mainly site-based at Brisbane Airport with limited remote work, a standard 40-hour week, and projects involve background checks and possibly drug screening.
