Senior Project Engineer – Robotics

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Project Engineer to lead the design and delivery of cutting‑edge factory automation and robotics solutions for our West Sydney hub. The role blends technical execution with project leadership and offers a pathway to team management within a global organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to develop concept designs for automated pick‑and‑place cells, AGVs and other robotic systems.
• Lead applications, R&D and mechanical engineering teams to deliver turnkey solutions on time and within budget.
• Present solution proposals and upgrade recommendations to clients, ensuring alignment with their operational needs.
• Oversee proof‑of‑concept development, safety assessments and field service activities for robotic installations.

Required profile

• Minimum tertiary qualification in Mechatronics, Control Systems or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in mechanical concept design using CAD for industrial robotics.
• Proven track record delivering end‑to‑end material‑handling automation across sectors such as FMCG, medical, pharma and warehousing.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, project management and client‑facing presentation skills.

Required skills

• CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for mechanical design.
• Programming of articulated robotic arms.
• Collaborative robot (cobot) integration and programming.
• Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) configuration and control.
• Proof‑of-concept development and safety machine assessment.
