Senior Power BI Semantic Modeller / AI Enablement Consultant

About the role

A 6-month hybrid contract (3-4 days in the office) based in Melbourne CBD, advertised by Peoplebank on behalf of client Leaders IT. The role reviews and optimises Power BI semantic models and helps lay the foundations for enterprise AI adoption, so that governed data can be consumed by tools such as Copilot and other natural language AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Review existing Power BI semantic models, datasets and reporting architecture independently.
• Optimise data models using dimensional modelling best practice, including star and snowflake schemas.
• Improve semantic layer design, measures, relationships and data structures for reporting accuracy, scalability and maintainability.
• Prepare semantic models for natural language querying, automated insights and enterprise AI use cases.
• Give recommendations, provide implementation support and transfer knowledge to business and technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with Power BI semantic modelling, dataset architecture and enterprise reporting environments.
• Experience designing data models that support AI, Copilot or natural language analytics.
• Consulting and stakeholder engagement skills, including independent technical reviews and strategic recommendations.
• Experience with Azure-based data platforms and enterprise data governance frameworks is highly regarded.
