Senior Pharmacist – Perioperative Services

About the role

This newly created position leads the implementation of a perioperative clinical pharmacy service at Alice Springs Hospital. The role focuses on improving medication management, patient safety, and clinical outcomes across high‑acuity surgical services in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, launch and continuously improve a perioperative pharmacy service.
• Provide clinical medication reviews and support to surgical teams.
• Collaborate with medical, nursing and pharmacy leaders to embed multidisciplinary care.
• Participate in on‑call and weekend rosters, ensuring safe medication processes.
• Mentor junior pharmacy staff and contribute to professional development initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with extensive hospital experience.
• Background in inpatient clinical pharmacy, preferably with exposure to perioperative or surgical settings.
• Demonstrated leadership potential or existing leadership experience.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
