Senior Mobile Engineer

About the role

Airtasker is looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer who lives and breathes native iOS and Android development. You will work in a spec‑first, agentic environment where AI‑assisted tools help you turn clear specifications into production‑ready code across both platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver mobile features using spec‑driven, agentic workflows, writing specs, acceptance criteria, and verifying AI‑generated implementations.
• Design and maintain agent workflows that solve recurring team problems, defining boundaries and human hand‑off points.
• Curate contextual artefacts such as repository maps, architecture summaries, decision logs, and reusable task templates.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery: clarify requirements, conduct technical research, engage stakeholders, and unblock issues.
• Ship and maintain production apps through the full release cycle, including store submission, phased roll‑out, and crash monitoring.
• Collaborate with Product, Data, and Design teams to execute core mobile roadmap initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong native iOS development experience in Swift and native Android development in Kotlin, with shipped production apps on both platforms.
• Deep understanding of mobile architecture fundamentals – lifecycle, state management, offline handling, performance, and memory.
• Fluency with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) across the entire development lifecycle.
• Spec‑first mindset: ability to decompose work into clear, agent‑executable units.
• Root‑cause analysis habit: when AI output fails, you investigate prompts, context, and plans rather than just fixing symptoms.
• Passion for product impact and commercial context.
