Senior Mining Engineer - Underground Gold Mine

About the role

Northern Star Resources is looking for a Senior Mining Engineer to join its underground team at the Mt Charlotte Underground mine near Kalgoorlie. The role leads a technical team of scheduling, drill and blast and graduate engineers, driving safe production. It can be based in Kalgoorlie or on a FIFO roster, with an 8/6 schedule and 12-hour days.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate drill and blast and ancillary designs for the mining engineers in line with the weekly plan.
• Provide guidance and coaching to the scheduling engineers.
• Act as main point of contact to the Underground Mine Foreman for planning and executing the weekly plan and hold the technical team accountable.
• Manage stope reconciliation, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Ensure blast vibration monitoring, recording and reporting meets site and statutory requirements.
• Support the Underground Manager with DEMIRS visits, inspections and investigations, and cover alternate Underground Manager functions as required.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of underground hard rock mining experience.
• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• Current unencumbered Western Australian C class driver's licence.
• Completion of the underground time required for the First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency; having it is an added advantage.
• Preferred: experience with a mining contractor, sub-level caving, modified Avoca or sub-level open stoping, underground mine rescue, and Power BI.
