Senior Mechanical Project Engineer – Brisbane

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will own the technical delivery of large‑scale capital equipment projects from sales handover through design, manufacturing, shipping, installation and commissioning. Acting as the primary technical liaison, you will translate ambiguous international customer requirements into clear, manufacturable specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Size and select mechanical components such as shafts, bearings and drive systems.
• Specify process equipment and fluid‑handling systems, including pumps and valves.
• Specify purchased components such as sensors and switches.
• Oversee 3D modelling in Inventor and 2D drafting in AutoCAD for equipment and layout drawings.
• Monitor design and drawing release schedules to keep projects on track.
• Support fabrication through to installation and commissioning, including occasional domestic and international travel for site reviews and customer meetings.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree.
• 15+ years of project engineering experience in an OEM, design house or engineering consultancy.
• Hands‑on design background using Inventor and AutoCAD with design‑calculation experience.
• Strong communication skills for working with international customers.
• Practical, solutions‑focused mindset and comfort working closely with a manufacturing workshop.
