Senior Lecturer Medicine (Oncology)

About the role

Western Sydney University's School of Medicine, within the Faculty of Health, is seeking a part-time Senior Lecturer in Oncology based at the Liverpool Clinical School. The position is ongoing, at 14 hours per week (0.4 FTE), and sits in an integrated academic and clinical environment. The successful candidate may also hold an associated clinical role in a medicine department of the South Western Sydney Local Health District, principally at Liverpool Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Lead oncology teaching, research and higher degree supervision for medical students.
• Design and deliver teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate medicine programs, including Year 3 oncology teaching and contributions to the Year 2 curriculum.
• Contribute to curriculum development, assessment and feedback, and support student progression and graduate employability.
• Produce research and scholarly outcomes and contribute to clinical service delivery at partner hospitals.

Required profile

• Doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing; candidates working towards a PhD are also considered.
• Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Specialist training and consultant-level experience in Medical Oncology or Radiation Oncology.
• Strong research record with the capacity to lead research and attract competitive funding.
• Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching, curriculum development and educational technologies.
• Experience supervising students and building collaborative relationships across disciplines, the profession and industry.
