Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Psychiatry

About the role

The Discipline of Psychiatry & Mental Health at UNSW is looking for a Senior Lecturer (Level C) or Associate Professor (Level D) to advance research and education in psychiatry and mental health, with a particular focus on psychosis and related disorders. The role suits a Clinical Academic Psychiatrist who will lead research, teach and supervise students across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and integrate clinical practice with their academic work. It reports to the Head of the Discipline, Professor Kimberlie Dean, and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake and lead research, and build research and clinical partnerships with colleagues across the University and health services
• Teach and supervise students, and mentor students and colleagues
• Contribute to competitive funding applications and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives
• Build engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry

Required profile

• Clinical qualification in psychiatry to enable potential future clinical work in Australia (e.g. FRANZCP or equivalent)
• For Level C: PhD in psychiatry, mental health or another relevant field, and demonstrated teaching and research experience
• For Level D: significant research leadership and funding record, curriculum development, and national-level peer recognition
• Visa sponsorship is available depending on experience; relocation assistance is offered to the right candidate

• Academic Level C or D remuneration of $161,619 to $193,354 FTE, plus 17% superannuation and clinical loading
