Senior Lecturer – Applied Mathematics

About the role

The University of Western Australia is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics to lead high‑impact research and deliver engaging teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The position is open to full‑time or part‑time candidates and supports flexible working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality research in mathematical and computational modelling, focusing on modern applications of applied mathematics.
• Teach and develop curriculum for courses ranging from first‑year calculus and linear algebra to advanced topics such as continuum mechanics and modelling.
• Provide academic leadership, contribute to industry and community engagement, and participate in departmental, school and university service.

Required profile

• PhD in Mathematics or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in applied mathematics and a strong publication record in peer‑reviewed international journals.
• Evidence of successful grant writing and an emerging record of excellence in course development and active learning.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, with the ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels.
