Senior Lawyer, Transaction Banking

About the role

ANZ is seeking a Senior Lawyer to join its Institutional Legal team and support the growing Transaction Banking business. The role provides high‑impact legal advice across Payments & Cash Management and Trade & Supply Chain, helping the bank develop and deliver innovative products while managing risk.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic, proactive legal advice across Payments & Cash Management and Trade & Supply Chain.
• Advise on development, approval and implementation of new products, digital solutions and financial infrastructure.
• Structure, negotiate and draft complex, non‑standard customer transactions and related documentation.
• Draft and amend product terms, transaction documents, confidentiality agreements and indemnities.
• Identify, assess and manage legal risk, including regulatory change and compliance matters.
• Collaborate with product, risk, compliance and operations stakeholders to deliver growth initiatives and transformation projects.

Required profile

• Extensive post‑qualification experience in a leading law firm, authorised deposit‑taking institution, listed financial institution or comparable in‑house environment.
• Strong expertise in banking and financial services law with the ability to identify and manage legal risk.
• Experience in one or more Transaction Banking areas such as payments, cash management, clearing, liquidity, digital solutions, trade finance or supply chain finance.
• Proven ability to advise on complex, cross‑border or multi‑jurisdictional transactions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
