Senior IT Systems and Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

A new permanent, ongoing role has been created in the Adelaide CBD, reporting to the IT Director as second-in-command. You will work closely with the current IT team to lift and modernise ICT and cyber security across the business. It is not a simple BAU IT support role: it combines hands-on technical work across a multi-platform environment (Windows, Linux, macOS) with strategic thinking. Key responsibilities

• IT support: share ticket triage and resolution with the Service Desk Specialist across endpoint, identity and access requests; handle onboarding and offboarding including access deprovisioning; keep an accurate asset and application inventory.
• Endpoint and identity security: deploy and maintain mobile device management (MDM) across the corporate fleet; configure endpoint controls such as application and web control and phishing simulation to close Essential Eight gaps; manage the Okta identity lifecycle and extend SSO coverage to other applications.
• Governance, risk and compliance: support ISO 27001 ISMS operation, including evidence collection and control owner support before surveillance audits; maintain the AI Tool Registry and support vendor security assessments; track and report Essential Eight maturity progress.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, IT systems and/or cyber security.
• Comfortable working autonomously in a small team with a broad scope, balancing BAU support with project-based uplift work.
• Experience with regulated frameworks (ISO 27001, Essential Eight or DISP) and vendor risk, and familiarity with emerging AI governance.
• Australian citizenship is required; prior active clearances and defence-sector experience are a bonus.

• Endpoint hardening and MDM administration (Intune or similar).
• Identity and access management fundamentals (Okta).
• Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python).
• SIEM and log management fundamentals, and vendor risk assessment experience.
