Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Unix/Linux

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead the administration, optimisation and continuous improvement of enterprise Unix/Linux environments that support critical business and customer services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the administration, optimisation and continuous improvement of enterprise Unix/Linux platforms, ensuring security, reliability and availability.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, Terraform and configuration‑management practices across on‑premises, cloud and hybrid environments.
• Partner with application, database, middleware, network, security and architecture teams to resolve complex technical challenges and support technology refresh, migration and cloud adoption initiatives.
• Enhance system resilience, support disaster‑recovery and high‑availability solutions, and mentor other engineers.

Required profile

• Significant experience in Unix/Linux systems administration or engineering within large‑scale enterprise environments.
• Advanced knowledge of operating system architecture, performance tuning, capacity management and security hardening.
• Proven ability to collaborate with technical stakeholders, lead investigations and share knowledge across engineering teams.

• Unix/Linux platforms (RHEL, SUSE, IBM AIX)
• Shell scripting and automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform)
• Storage technologies (LVM, SAN, NAS)
• High‑availability and clustering (PowerHA/HACMP, Veritas Cluster Server)
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure)
