Senior ICT Project Manager – Government Projects

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position joins the Local Peoples team to lead high‑impact ICT projects for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. You will manage cross‑functional teams and external vendors, ensuring strong governance, risk management and stakeholder engagement across corporate applications, infrastructure, cloud, cyber, data and analytics initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end delivery of ICT projects using PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe or hybrid approaches.
• Lead multi‑disciplinary teams, including internal staff and third‑party vendors.
• Deliver projects within agreed scope, schedule, budget and quality parameters.
• Establish and maintain project governance from initiation through closure.
• Prepare and present executive‑level reports, board papers and briefings.
• Manage project budgets, financial forecasting and reporting.
• Identify, manage and escalate risks, issues and dependencies.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and ensure clear communication.
• Support broader program delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience delivering large or complex ICT projects or programs.
• Proven ability to manage all aspects of project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, governance and risk.
• Strong leadership experience building and leading multi‑disciplinary teams and managing third‑party contracts.
• Excellent communication skills with experience preparing executive‑level briefing materials.
• Resilience and adaptability to deliver under pressure in ambiguous environments.
