Senior Hydraulics & Stormwater Engineer

About the role

A family-owned engineering consultancy founded 30 years ago, based in an office on Brisbane's southside, is looking for a Senior Hydraulics & Stormwater Engineer. The firm covers structural, geotech and hydraulics under one roof, mostly doing repeat residential projects for major home builders and setting up a new department for high-end architectural homes. The hydraulics team has more work than it can handle and is growing its flood modelling services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead stormwater design and overland flow modelling on land development projects, including pre- and post-development analysis of where water goes and where it collects.
• Build models for existing and proposed conditions, run scenarios and explain the results in plain English to planners, designers and clients.
• Work closely with the hydraulics manager and a couple of junior engineers.
• Learn building hydraulics such as roofwater, sanitary drainage, water supply, fire and gas.

Required profile

• 5+ years in stormwater design and overland flow modelling.
• Degree in civil, environmental or water resources engineering, or something similar.
• Experience assessing the impact of land development, ideally on residential projects.

Required skills

• Hands-on DRAINS experience.
• GIS or modelling tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, HEC-HMS or SWMM.

What we offer

• $130,000 to $150,000 plus superannuation.
