Senior Fire Protection Engineer – Buildings Services

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join its Buildings Services team in Sydney. You will play a key part in designing and delivering fire protection solutions for major infrastructure projects, ensuring safety and compliance across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop active fire protection systems, including automatic sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, fire detection and alarm systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, create sprinkler layouts, and produce technical documentation in line with Australian Standards.
• Coordinate fire protection designs with digital and multidisciplinary teams, resolve clashes and constructability issues.
• Prepare and review drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports to meet Aurecon’s quality standards.
• Support fire protection design from concept through tender, construction, commissioning and close‑out.
• Attend site inspections and construction meetings, verify installations against design intent and provide technical support.
• Apply Aurecon’s design procedures and quality processes to deliver consistent fire protection solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, clients and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
• Proven expertise in designing fire protection systems for complex building projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage fire engineering aspects from concept to commissioning.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
