Senior ESD Consultant

About the role

A leading Australian ESD consultancy based in Melbourne, established over 20 years ago and specialising in sustainability across architectural, commercial and residential projects, is looking for an experienced Senior ESD Consultant to lead its team. The consultant supports project leaders and manages the design and documentation of Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) services.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and deliver design and documentation for ESD projects, meeting varied project requirements.
• Carry out sustainable design assessments, calculations and studies covering energy efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, water efficiency, indoor environment quality, materials and stormwater pollution.
• Prepare advice and propose solutions to reduce the environmental impact of development projects.
• Attend and manage project, client and site meetings, and liaise with authorities and suppliers.
• Allocate and monitor workloads, meet deadlines and ensure high-quality documentation.
• Collaborate with other building design professionals and interpret Australian standards and the Building Codes of Australia.
• Prepare sustainable design reports and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or equivalent.
• Experience in design and documentation across various sectors of the construction industry.
• Knowledge of building codes and relevant standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication, time management, leadership and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work within or lead a project team, with strong client focus.
• Candidates must reside in Australia.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam and other ESD-specific software.
• Analytical and creative skills.
