Senior Environmental Designer (ESD Consultant)

About the role

Atelier Ten, a multidisciplinary firm of environmental design consultants, building services engineers and lighting designers, is seeking a Senior Environmental Designer (ESD Consultant) for its Sydney team. This is a 12-month fixed-term arrangement. The role works with architects, engineers and project teams to integrate sustainability into building, precinct and infrastructure projects, and collaborates with environmental design specialists across Australia and globally.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large and complex sustainable building projects
• Manage client relationships, work plans, budgets and junior team contributions
• Shape sustainability strategies and facilitate design workshops
• Scope and oversee daylight, energy and thermal comfort analysis
• Support projects through Green Star, WELL, NABERS, Living Building Challenge and other certification frameworks
• Mentor team members and help build local technical capability
• Contribute to proposals, client engagement and industry thought leadership

Required profile

• Degree in engineering, architecture, building science or a related discipline
• At least 8 years of professional ESD experience, including five or more years managing projects
• Australian sustainability consulting experience
• Experience leading projects to successful Green Star ratings
• Appropriate Australian working rights

Required skills

• Strong technical, project management and stakeholder communication skills
• Experience with tools or credentials such as Green Star, LEED, WELL, ILFI, NABERS, Passivhaus, Ladybug Tools or IES VE is highly regarded
