Senior Cultural Heritage Officer (2 Positions)

About the role

Six Degrees Executive is recruiting two Senior Cultural Heritage Officers for a Queensland Government infrastructure agency's regional Environment and Cultural Heritage team on the Sunshine Coast. The team plans, delivers and maintains major transport infrastructure, and its cultural heritage officers ensure each project meets legislative, departmental and government commitments, from early planning through construction and ongoing operations. The contract runs to 15 November 2028 with a two-year extension option, starting in November.

Key responsibilities

• Provide cultural heritage advice and management services across planning, design, construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure projects
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Traditional Owner groups
• Advise stakeholders on legislation, policy, procedures and cultural heritage requirements
• Carry out cultural heritage assessments and prepare reports, management plans and agreements
• Manage and take part in field work such as surveys, studies, monitoring, inspections and audits
• Implement cultural heritage legislation, policy and procedure across project delivery and road corridor operations

Required profile

• Degree in archaeology, anthropology, cultural heritage management or an equivalent qualification
• Current Class C driver's licence
• Current White Card or ability to obtain one
• Willingness to undergo a criminal history check before appointment
• Desirable: cultural heritage management experience on infrastructure projects; membership of a professional body such as the AAA, ICOMOS or a related discipline

What we offer

• Pay of $82.37 to $88.57 per hour plus superannuation, 40 hours per week, PAYG
• Long-term contract with a two-year extension option
• Work Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm, with PPE provided
