Senior Creature FX TD

About the role

Framestore, a multi Oscar‑winning creative studio, is seeking a Senior Creature FX TD to design and execute dynamic simulations for characters and creatures on film projects. You will work closely with directors, producers, and multiple departments to deliver high‑quality visual effects.

Key responsibilities

• Create simulation rigs for characters and creatures using Maya, nCloth and proprietary tools.
• Execute shots with simulation rigs and deliver finished assets to the Lighting department.
• Liaise with Modeling, Rigging, Animation and Lighting teams throughout the creature workflow.
• Contribute to the development of departmental tools, techniques and pipelines.
• Meet schedules and deadlines while maintaining the highest technical and artistic standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or 5 years full‑time experience in a related field.
• 5‑7 years experience in a similar role on CG creature projects (cloth, hair/fur, feathers, skin, muscle).
• Thorough knowledge of Maya and experience creating simulation rigs.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and appreciation of both aesthetic and technical requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a deadline‑driven environment and communicate effectively across departments.

Required skills

• Maya and nCloth.
• Programming/scripting: Mel, Python, C++.
• Tool and plug‑in development for workflow optimisation.
• Modeling and rigging knowledge, including Maya constraints and deformers.
• Experience with Carbon or other simulation software.
• Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments.
