Senior Consultant, Healthcare

About the role

FTI Consulting is seeking a Senior Consultant to join its growing Health team in Sydney. The firm works with public, private and not-for-profit health organisations to improve service delivery, operational performance and outcomes, focusing on hospital operations and improvement. You will work alongside hospital clinical and operational teams to make lasting changes.

Key responsibilities

• Spend much of the week on client sites, often three to four days, working with clinicians, managers and executives
• Observe how services run and identify opportunities for improvement in areas such as patient flow, access to care, staffing, rosters, bed and theatre planning, and process redesign
• Bring together operational data, staff perspectives and observations to define problems and recommend practical solutions
• Help teams design, test and implement changes, track results and set up routines for reviewing performance
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions that build improvement skills and agree priorities
• Own defined pieces of project work, coordinate activities and keep progress on track
• Produce clear analysis, presentations and reports, and contribute to proposals, case studies and the development of team methods and tools

Required profile

• At least two years (no more than six) of relevant experience in consulting, project delivery, hospital operations or improvement
• Experience working in or with hospitals, including a practical understanding of clinical and operational service delivery
• A clinical background is valuable when combined with experience delivering service change or improvement
• Comfort with ambiguity, resilience under pressure, and the ability to influence without formal authority
• Ability to take ownership of a defined piece of work and manage priorities
