Senior Collections Lead

About the role

Athena is a fast‑growing fintech focused on home loans. As Senior Collections Lead you will own the end‑to‑end mortgage arrears portfolio, from early intervention to late‑stage recovery, and help shape the operational foundations of Athena Assist.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an end‑to‑end arrears portfolio, using proactive engagement and data‑driven insights to prevent deeper delinquency.
• Oversee bridging loan and non‑monetary defaults, ensuring cases are handled according to Athena’s policies.
• Work directly with customers to create sustainable repayment strategies and catch‑up plans tailored to their circumstances.
• Coordinate with external service providers, referring appropriate matters and monitoring outcomes.
• Identify workflow friction points, propose improvements and help develop automated processes and contact strategies.
• Monitor portfolio trends and provide credit quality and customer behaviour insights to the Risk team.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience in mortgage or consumer collections.
• Ability to manage complex cases, balance customer and commercial considerations, and make decisions within delegated authority.
• Proficiency with CRM systems and automated workflows; preference for efficient, non‑manual processes.
• Strong communication skills to conduct tough conversations while maintaining Athena’s brand voice.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, high data‑entry accuracy and capability to work autonomously in a high‑pressure environment.
